Ain'tNoSunshine的原创作者是billWithers，被收录在1971年9月发布的专辑《JustasIAm》中，成为了BillWithers一个突破性的热曲。
这首歌由BookerT。Jones制作，Donald"Duck"Dunn负责贝斯的部分，AlJackson，Jr担任鼓的演奏。歌曲的弦乐部分由BookerT。Jones编写，在孟菲斯由TerryManning录制。1971年，一经发售，立刻风靡整个流行乐界，在当时的BillboardHot100上排行第3，并在四十年后仍旧影响着当今的歌手们。
Withers是在看了一部1962年的电影《DaysofWineandRoses》（醉乡情断）后被激发写出了这首Ain'tNoSunshine，特别是由LeeRemick和JackLemmon，饰演的两个角色。
