GetthePartyStarted作为美国女歌手P！nk第二张个人录音室专辑M！ssundaztood中的首支单曲（后再次收录于P！nk于2010年发行的首张个人精选集GreatestHits……SoFar！中，于2001年10月推出发行，并在全球范围内爆红，十几个国家单曲榜拿下前十的好成绩，也成为P！nk当时最畅销的单曲。在这首热单的强力推动下，专辑M！ssundaztood亦顺势大卖，全球畅销近1400万份。这支单曲被认为是P！nk音乐生涯中的成名曲，同样是最重要的代表作之一。歌曲还被列入滚石杂志2000~2010年百大金曲第81位。
GetthePartyStarted这支录影带由导演DaveMeyers与2001年9月下旬拍摄完成的。在MV1分46秒时，出现了一面美国国旗，意在向911袭击致哀。MV主要内容与歌曲基本一致，讲述的是P！nk想要在夜店里与众不同的故事。MV在2002年VMA音乐录影带大奖上被提名为最佳流行音乐录影带、最佳舞曲音乐录影带和最佳女歌手录影带，并最终摘得最佳舞曲音乐录影带和最佳女歌手录影带两项大奖。
